ITINERARY
Day 1 - Fly to Helsinki, Finland and then transfer via internal flight to our Kajaani, our final destination. We will be collected from the airport and transferred via road to our base for the trip.
Days 2 to 5 - Each day, we will be transported to a drop-off point and walk via a forest track (c.2 kms) to a variety of hides, where we will aim to photograph Bears, Wolves, Wolverines and other native wildlife. We will enter the hides at 16:00hrs and stay in them through the night. Dress accordingly as the hides are unheated and it can get chilly through the night. Each night, we will be in a different hide, to give a variety of photographic opportunities. Once we leave the hide each morning, we will sleep, rest and eat at the lodge. There will also be an opportunity to photograph woodland/forest birds and red squirrels at the onsite bird hide.
Day 6 - After we return from our final night in the bear hides, we will shower, have breakfast and then transfer back to Kajaani and make our way home.
NOTES
We will use a range of observation points and hides in varying habitats that have a healthy population of both Brown Bears and Wolverines.
During the summer months, the light through the evening means much greater opportunities to photograph these apex predators.
Mosquitoes can be prevalent at this time of year, albeit only when walking to the hides. Bring repellent spray.
We will spend all night in the hides (17:00 - 07:00) which are equipped with bunk beds. We will then spend our days at the accommodation, resting, charging batteries and refuelling.
