PHOTOGRAPH the iberian lynx

MORE INFORMATION

Find yourself on an unforgettable adventure into the heart of Spain’s wild beauty. Our exclusive 6-day wildlife photography tour takes you deep into the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, home to one of the world’s most elusive and majestic felines — the Iberian Lynx. Known for its striking spotted fur and tufted ears, the Iberian lynx is an icon of conservation, and this is your rare opportunity to photograph it in its natural habitat. Lynx are relatively sedentary individuals, that occupy their territories throughout the year - we will have exclusive access to a range of purpose built hides, to observe and photograph these incredible cats, with minimal disturbance.

Surrounded by rugged mountains, ancient forests, and rolling meadows, you’ll experience an environment teeming with life, from majestic wild boars to soaring eagles. As you embark on daily excursions led by expert guides, you'll be equipped with unparalleled access to the lynx’s territory, learning about their behavior, the ongoing conservation efforts, and how these incredible cats have been brought back from the brink of extinction.

The Iberian Lynx, with at one point fewer than 100 individuals left in the wild, has been the focus of one of the most successful wildlife conservation efforts in history. Through a combination of habitat restoration, captive breeding programs, and careful monitoring, the Iberian Lynx population has made a remarkable recovery. In the early 2000s, a coordinated effort by conservationists, government agencies, and local communities began reintroducing Lynxes into protected areas like the Sierra de Andújar, where they had once thrived. This was complemented by vital work to restore the Lynx’s natural prey base, particularly the European rabbit, whose decline had contributed to the species’ perilous situation. Today, thanks to these collective efforts, the Iberian Lynx is no longer considered critically endangered, and their numbers are steadily rising, bringing hope for their long-term survival.

Whether you are an experienced photographer or a passionate nature enthusiast, this tour offers you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to capture the essence of the Iberian lynx in a pristine landscape, with a backdrop of breathtaking views and expert guidance every step of the way. Come and immerse yourself in the wonders of the Sierra de Andújar – where one of nature’s most elusive predators roams free.
